Golf course is overrun with canada geese how can we cull the flock so we are not inundated with droppings?Abigail Golf course in Southeastern Virginia. Geese do not migrate. They homestead by the hundreds and have many chicks that will mature shortly. I think they could at least pick up their own droppings with a little goosey bag!!!
Oralia make a present to the golf course of a border collie or a black swan if they have water on the course... that will do it, no more geese.
Loree target practice
Candance A shotgun might come in handy. Lock and load!
Elenora i'm not a course designer, only a regular player but i find that geese and ducks like to group around ponds and lakes. Try integrating some water hazards, hopefully that will take care of your problem. Perhaps that will keep them away from the greens and fairways.
Benjamin Two golf courses in my area, Augusta, GA. that I play, hire a contractor to catch and move the geese. I have seen this done and it is very humaine. And a little entertaining.
Denny The Dog as mentioned before can be a very good option, but a trained dog to chase geese can run the course around $10,000 plus his annual costs so many courses shy away from it. A good bird of prey decoy can reduce there numbers as well, but are not quite as effective.
Brinda We had a ton of Geese around here too. Try a plastic fox it will keep them down to a minimum.
Conchita We have the same problem here. we got a dog he chases the geese, the golfers dont mind him and it has reduced the crap on the fairways and greens.
