How do i get a scholarship for golf?Reita I have been playing golf for about 3 years and have improved drastically over those 3 years. My biggest goal is to play college golf somewhere in the south, preferably North Carolina. Currently I shoot about an 88 on 18 and have an average drive of 240. The weakest area of my game is my short game. I am starting to play in lots of tournaments as the spring nears. Academically I am set, I hold a 3.7 and take a heavy load of honors and AP courses. Is there anything else I need to be doing? Also I am right handed and have had a reconstruction surgery and cartilage revision surgery done on my left knee. Will that make it harder for me to get a scholarship?
Alysia At the moment you are a stroke per hole too high to even consider playing college golf. Enter all the tournaments for juniors, be competitive and win a few. Enter all the state tournaments and see what you will be needing to compete. Then decide of you have the talent. Then see which southern schools offer golf scholarships.
Amiee I'm not sure of many schools that will have players shooting 88 on their team. But short game can be fixed quickly and help your game a lot. Remember, a one foot putt is the same stroke count as a 300 yard drive. Improve your short game, and your score will decrease a lot.
Daren You should play at Elon University. I played there (for the mens team). It's a great school with a great golf program. But you'll need to shave some strokes off your game in the meantime. Keep practicing and if you want it bad enough, you'll get there.
Filomena You get it by practicing and get on a varsity team. there is a lot of scholarships out there for women golfersGood Luck!!!
Darcey Play par golf
