How can i get scouted for golf?

Cheryle
I am a sophomore at Banks High School in Banks, Oregon, and we have a high school golf team, i dont play on it because I play baseball and they are at the same time. I do play golf just with family and friends on the course and have been told im very good, I average 210-240 on my tee shots and i mostly keep it in the fairways, my average score on 9 holes is about a 48 on par 36... I need help figuring out how I can get scouted by some colleges or get their attention on me for golf but without joining the golf team!!! Thank you!!!

Um im sorry to say if you want to play college golf in the states u need to be alot better than that. You need to play in tournaments and leave a good record. Most college scouts come to big tournaments. However most of the players are super good and they are a scratch or better. So if you want to play college golf i suggest you practice every day on the golf course. But even with that much practice it will be quite a long shot. And get your priorities straight. If you really want to make a college golf team you should quit baseball and use that time to practice more golf. good luck

Under your present performance there is little to no chance of being scouted. Most golfers at age 14 competing in the junior ranks are shooting in the low 80s with several playing close to par. May I suggest you do a lot of practicing starting with putting, chipping and short irons. As you get proficient at each stage take that out on the course and see how well you can perform. When your handicap index gets to the low single digits, play on the golf team and have the coach promote you to colleges.LIke all of life, you have to prove yourself.

Nothing is impossible, if you get proper guideline. Those who succeed in sports basically have a proper coach or at least some super tips from pro.I will recommend you http://sb7.org/Simple-Golf-Swing/ if you have some bucks to invest for your future then i will advice you to check out this guide. I found it very useful or i can suggest you to find some free info on internet and go for your goal.

Your scores are not good enough to walk on, let alone get recruited. You are gonna have to bite the bullet, join the golf team, and get a hell of alot better before you are gonna have any chance.

Cut that 48 down to a 38 or lower and maybe you'll get 'scouted'. Also, you'd have to join tournaments and do fairly well in them.

mmm - I think your perception of very good & what is actually very good are quite disparate. For starters family & friends are probably not the best judge of your golfing skill... unless they're professional players themselves. Sort of like some real ugly kid being told by their parents they're good looking. Use this easy gauge for golfing skill. Score for 18 holes on a consistent basis:100+ - you're hopeless90 - 99 - weekend hack that has a few rounds a year80 - 89 - you can hit the odd reasonable ball but you're way too inconsistent; hitting the odd birdie but double bogey + isn't uncommon. The closer to 80 you're hitting consistently good shots75-79 - You're a good player and with further practise could play pennant.70-74 - Dam fine player with above average skills and depending on your amount of practise could be really good.<69 - and you can do that at any course you rock up to - now you're talking potential career avenues. Keep in mind MANY people have negative handicaps & don't go on to do anything with their skill - as even still they're not good enough. It's a tough game!
