Searching for book80s parts having to do with a lake golf course flamingos and fried onions body odor?Bessie This book involved a teenage girl going to a place with her mother. I vaguely remember a lake, golf course, something to do with flamingos. I do remember one particular part in the book that states somewhat of "I like the fried onions, just not on people. The book may have been based in Florida or California. I read this in the 80s and can't recall the title (mother threw it away).
Felicita I remember a passage similar to that "I like the smell of fried onions, just not on people". It was in a book called "Trying Hard To Hear You" by Sandra Scoppettone. It's a book about a teenage girl named Camilla who finds out her best friend Jeff is gay. The fried onions part happens when Camilla comes home one day to find that her mother is having some friends over. One of her mother's friends always smells like fried onions and Camilla thinks that part about smelling fried onions whenever she sees this lady. The book was first published in 1974 but there's been several reissues since then. Here's a link to this book at Amazon, where there's used copies available: http://www.amazon.com/Trying-Hard-Hear-S…
Georgianna Your mum is mean!It sounds crazy and quite good, but I have no idea what it could be. I've heard there are sites out there that help you recall titles and stuff, but I've never looked into it.
