There are quite a few public courses that are fairly cheap. As far as $50.00 on a weekend, that might be difficult depending if you are scheduling a morning tee time vs after 2:00pm. Have you tried Las Positas, or Sunol Golf Course? Look for deals offered by local golf shops and in the newspapers. In the central valley, Van Buskirk and the public course in Modesto is pretty good.
