Unusual tick problem?Chana I have 4 dogs that are constantly getting ticks, and what boggles me is that we live in Arizona (the desert) with an all rock yard and no real shade and they are still getting these ticks. We keep our house clean, we only have tile floors, we have sprayed the yard, given the dogs tick baths, clean their bedding and ours about twice a week and still get ticks. I dont know what to do. The dogs don't even spend a fourth of the day outside and then walk in the house with them. We do live by a golf course but they keep their shrubs and grass maintained and it is still a few yards away. Thank you for reading and I am anxiously awaiting your responses. Have a great day!
Alexandra There are a number of wild animals that carry ticks. Deer, rabbits, rats, mice, mountain lions/cougars, just to name a few that probably frequent your back yard or out side your fence. They fall off of the other animals or get scratched off on to plants, into your yard and on to your dogs. You can get a liquid at the vet that is applied on the dogs back close to their shoulder blades that should rid you of the tick problem. Wishing you and your babies the best.
Kristine Check out what plants you have nearby, ticks love lilac bushes. I'm sure there are other plants as well. The bright side is that garlic plants repel ticks. Hope this helps.
